Honda has scored top marks in the What Car?/JD Power Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Survey 2009. Following on from its 5-star success in 2008 Honda have again triumphed, with an overall score of 81.7%.
Owners were asked about every aspect of their car – from styling and boot space to comfort, performance costs and dealer service. This year 15,764 owners submitted responses about how their cars had performed over nearly 284 million miles. The cars, all registered between January 2006 and December 2007, were rated in four areas in order to produce the overall result. The four areas include vehicle appeal, vehicle quality and reliability, ownership costs and service satisfaction.

Mugen Motorsports, Honda’s tuning division, is set to release a hardcore Civic Type RR later this year – heralding plans to enhance Honda's entire model range.
Based on the high-revving three-door UK-spec Civic Type R, the Type RR features a 240bhp engine and track-focused cabin. It is expected to look a lot like the original Civic Type R concept, revealed in 2006.
The Type RR will cost roughly £35,000-£40,000 – around £10,000 more than a Ford Focus RS. It will have a modified 2.0 litre VTEC motor, stripped-out cabin, stiffer suspension, sportier bodykit and all-important exclusivity. Mugen expects to sell only a few dozen in the first half year.
The Honda Insight has been named Green Car of the Year 2009 by the Environmental Transport Association (ETA).
The ETA examined over 1300 models of car currently on sale in Britain and compared their power, emissions, fuel efficiency and even the amount of noise they produce to create a definitive guide to buying the greenest vehicle.
Andrew Davis, director at the ETA, said: “The discrepancy between the greenest and the least green cars in Britain today is striking, but the market is changing and a combination of consumer pressure alongside government leadership will result in an increasing choice of environmentally-sound cars.”
The Honda Jazz has been awarded the maximum 5-star Euro NCAP rating for car safety, following on from the 5 star results achieved by both the Honda Civic and the Honda Accord.
The new rating scheme, introduced in February 2009, uses a weighted score, combining many aspects of a car’s safety performance: adult (50%), child (20%) and pedestrian (20%) protection assessment results with the availability of safety assistance devices (10%).

More than a century after it first fired into life, the internal combustion engine appears likely to retain its position as the predominant source of automotive power for at least another two decades.
But rapid developments in battery technology are set to allow next-generation electric motor assisted petrol or diesel hybrid vehicles to win greater acceptance with family motorists and operators of light commercial vehicles.

The UK car industry has put considerable pressure on the government to introduce a scheme to encourage new car purchases and help support UK dealers and manufacturers.
When a car more than 10 years old is scrapped the government will offer a £2000 discount on a new car.
There will be £300 million of funding put into the scheme, which will run until March 2010, or until the government funding has been used.

Honda’s FCX Clarity hydrogen fuel cell car has been announced as the World Green Car at the New York International Auto Show.
The FCX Clarity was chosen from an initial entry list of 22 contenders nominated by 59 World Car jurors from 25 countries throughout the world and is the second time Honda has won the award with the Civic Hybrid receiving the same honour in 2006.
The award coincides with Honda’s announcement of a new hydrogen research department at its European R&D facility in Offenbach, Germany.
On receiving news of the award, Honda Motor Europe Senior Vice President, Ken Keir commented: “This accolade celebrates Honda’s long standing commitment to hydrogen fuel cell technology and alternative energy research. We are honoured to have received such a prestigious accolade for our ground breaking zero tailpipe emission vehicle."
Trident Honda are pleased to announce we are now able to offer test drives in the fantastic new Honda Insight hybrid car.
The original Honda Insight, launched in 1999, was the pioneer of hybrid technology in Europe. The new Insight breaks new ground by providing all the environmental and economical benefits of a hybrid, plus it sells for several thousand pounds below the Toyota Prius. At the same time, the new hybrid should match or exceed the fuel economy of the Prius.
And that's not all: the Insight also actively helps you maximise your fuel economy with Honda's unique Ecological Drive Assist System.
To arrange your personal test drive in the new Honda Insight hybrid please contact Ottershaw Sales on 01932 874411 or contact Weybridge Sales on 01932 858811.

This teaser photo shows how Honda's BMW X6 rival will look.
The crossover concept, which will be sold under Honda's Acura banner in the US, will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show in April.
It’s unlikely that this premium 4x4 will ever come to Europe, but it has been spotted testing at the Nurburgring, demonstrating that Honda is determined to ensure it has the 'European' driving characteristics that will help it appeal to US buyers.
It will go on sale in the US in 2010. Sources suggest that it is powered by the company’s current 3.7-litre V6 engine, but Honda is also considering fitting a new V8 motor.
Rather belatedly, we have updated our History page to include details of our appearance in The Sweeney back in 1976.

The temporary shutdown of the Swindon plant for four months, means that Honda will be building the right number of cars for customer demand and will ensure stock levels remain at an acceptable level. This shutdown will also enable Honda to re-tool the Swindon plant for the Honda Jazz; which was previously built only in Japan.
TOKYO, Japan - Honda announced that global sales of Honda hybrid vehicles passed the 300,000-unit mark on a cumulative basis at the end of January 2009, since the introduction of the first-generation Insight in November 1999.
Honda will unveil its first hot diesel, in the shape of the new Honda Accord Type S, at the Geneva motor show in March, the company has announced.
The Honda Accord Type S will use the same 2.2-litre diesel engine as the standard car, but tweaked to produce an extra 22lb ft of torque and 29bhp more.
The power gain is achieved through the use of a larger intercooler and changes to the turbocharger and cylinder head.
Customers will have the choice of saloon or estate bodies and two new paint colours, White Pearl and Basque Red. The new Honda Accord Type S will also get 18-inch alloys and clear indicator covers as well as Type S badging.
Joining the Honda Accord Type S at the Geneva motor show will be a limited-edition Honda S2000 to commemorate the end of its production. Only 100 models of the Edition 100 S2000 will be available in the UK, all of which will come with Grand Prix White paint and a red leather interior.
Honda has been voted the best manufacturer for customer service, according to a recent survey.
The UK Customer Satisfaction Index (UKCSI) surveyed 24,000 people who voted for companies in a variety of different sectors including retail, leisure, finance and utilities.
Honda topped the list of car manufacturers, followed by Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.
Overall satisfaction for the car industry stood at 75 per cent, down by one per cent from the last results, published by the UKCSI in July 2008.
Trident are delighted to announce a new variant to the highly acclaimed Honda S2000 model line up, marking the end of production for the award winning sports car.
The Honda S2000 GT Edition 100 is limited to 100 units and has the following unique features;
Aimed at the loyal S2000 enthusiast the GT Edition 100 will go on sale from March 2009 priced at £29,086 OTR.
"Honda welcomes any Government measures aimed at stimulating the UK car market."
"In particular, we welcome Government support for the automotive supply chain and the skills and training initiatives. As an independent company, Honda's policy is not to request or receive any direct financial support from the Government."
"For Honda's UK manufacturing operation at Swindon, our plans remain on course to retain our people, their skills and return to full production in June."
Honda has revealed a range of accessories for the new Insight. The exterior pack brings a sporty bodykit, chrome B-pillars and Crystal design alloy wheels.
Interior upgrades include ambient lighting for the footwells and centre console, as well as a Honda-branded portable sat-nav that mounts to the dash. Further details and prices will be available later in the year.

A newcomer to the Honda stable, set to be badged the Honda CUV, has been spotted on the roads. The newcomer blends the all-terrain benefits of a 4x4 with the practicality of an estate, and proves Honda is toughening up to take on the Audi Allroad and Volvo XC70.
Flared wheelarches reveal the front and rear track is wider. And behind the back doors is an extra inch or two of metal – hinting at an extended wheelbase. The suspension has also been jacked up to give improved ground clearance.
The CUV’s four-wheel-drive transmission will be mated to Honda’s usual 2.0 and 2.4-litre petrol engines and 2.2 i-DTEC diesel. Production of the Accord-based newcomer is set to start towards the end of the year.
Honda has announced that it will discontinue production of the S-2000 sports car by the end of June 2009. The S-2000 is still a highly respected sportscar, and this truly marks the end-of-an-era. It is believed that the "credit crunch", the moving environmental goals, and the eagerly anticipated launch of the hybrid Honda CR-Z have combined to bring about the demise of the S-2000.
Visit out Honda S-2000 page for more details on the S-2000 and contact us if you are interested in purchasing what is all-but-guaranteed to become a future classic.

Read how Autoexpress got on with their first drive of the forthcoming Honda Insight:

Official pictures of the UK-spec Honda Insight hybrid have leaked onto the web ahead of this weekend’s Detroit motor show.
The UK version of Honda's new 'affordable hybrid' differs only slightly from the production-ready US model unveiled at the end of last year, with new clear indicator lenses and conventional round fog lights.
The Insight is part of a family of green Hondas that include the FCX Clarity hydrogen fuel car, Jazz hybrid and the forthcoming production version of the CR-Z concept.
Honda has yet to confirm the details of the new Insight hybrid, but power is likely to come from the 1.4-litre iVTEC engine from the new Honda Jazz coupled with the latest version of Honda's hybrid system.
The Honda Insight hybrid will go on sale in Spring this year and is expected to undercut the Toyota Prius, with prices starting at £15k.

The restructuring of Honda's new model programme that led to the death of the new Honda NSX is much more extensive than previously thought. Honda is completely dismantling its plans for the next two years as it attempts to deal with the decline in new car sales across the world.
Among the casualties of Honda's rethink are a range of rear-wheel-drive cars to be sold under the Acura brand, a proposed V8 engine, a successor to the Honda S2000 and a convertible based on the forthcoming Honda CR-Z coupé.
Development of a new V8 engine for rear-drive Hondas has also been stopped. The new Honda V8 was seen as the wrong engine at the wrong time, and it was opposed by some Honda engineers who viewed it as too big, heavy and unnecessary. Honda product planners have also had trouble figuring out how to make the engine cost-effective.
It's not just big cars and big petrol engines that have been cancelled. The proposed drop-top version of the new Honda CR-Z hybrid coupe has been abandoned, along with any successor to the Honda S-2000.
Honda is now concentrating on building more hybrids and a new small city car. It aims to build 500,000 hybrids by 2012, including the new Honda Insight and the world's first hybrid supermini, a petrol-electric Honda Jazz due in 2010.
