The most frugal Honda CR-V

Friday, 12 July 2013 at 12.00AM

Honda has added the 1.6-litre diesel engine from the Civic hatchback to the CR-V range, and in doing so, it has created the most economical and lowest-emitting version of its family-friendly SUV.

Thus far, the most frugal CR-V has been the 2.2-litre diesel-engined model, which averages just over 50mpg and emits 149g/km, but the 1.6-litre model has that well beaten: it averages 62.8mpg and emits just 119g/km of CO2. That makes it one of the most frugal SUVs on sale today.

First Image of Next Generation Honda CR-V Concept

Tuesday, 26 July 2011 at 12.00AM

The new CR-V Concept embraces a distinctive and bold styling direction. The lower front bumper wraps smartly upward to convey SUV capability, while the overall lower front bumper design now integrates more smoothly into the fascia for improved aerodynamics.

Official pictures have been released of the new Honda CR-V, which will go on sale in January 2010.

The car will be available with Honda's 2.2-litre i-DTEC engine, which was launched in the Accord last year, for the first time. It produces 148bhp and 258lb ft of torque. It can also be mated to either a manual gearbox or a new, five-speed automatic unit.

The new Honda CR-V will be built in Swindon, and exported to 60 countries. Full specs and prices will be revealed closer to the car's on sale date.
