Trident holds Mufti for Michael day

Friday, 20 October 2017 at 12.40PM

Only a few cakes left

We are today, Friday 20th October, holding a Mufti for Michael day in remembrance of our founder Michael Roberts and to raise money for the Woking Hospice, who cared for Michael so well towards the end of his life.

Thank you to all our team for supporting the event, and especially to Alex Russell, who kindly volunteered to bake cakes for a cake sale. Sadly there are very few left now (see photo opposite)!

In all we believe that we will have collected around £350 for this wonderful cause today.

Thank you to all our customers today for tolerating our questionable sartorial choices and especially to those who decided to contribute to the appeal.

Woking Rotary Swimathon hits its tenth year

Wednesday, 11 October 2017 at 10.17AM

Sunday saw the return of the Woking Rotary Swimathon to the Woking Pool in the Park for its 10th Year, once again sponsored by Trident Honda in Ottershaw. The event was inaugurated by the Mayor of Woking, Councillor Graham Cundy, who very kindly started the event and handed out the first round of medals.

The event, which has been sponsored by Trident since it was started in 2008, has so far raised over £110,000 for local Woking charities.

Richard Roberts, Managing Director of Trident, said:

It's great to be involved with the Woking Swimathon again this year. It is always a fabulous day, that is fun for all those that take part, whilst raising much needed funds for some great local causes.

Trident Honda was delighted once again to sponsor the West Byfleet Golf Club Charity Day on Friday 28th July. Trident had put forward the opportunity to win a Honda Jazz should anyone get a hole-in-one on the 17th hole.

The day itself went very well and, despite the weather threatening to ruin the day, in fact the day passed largely unspoilt by rain. Despite much enthusiasm, the pressure clearly proved too much - and the closest anyone reached to the 17th hole was 3 feet! And so the Jazz was duly returned to Ottershaw without having been won.

Trident Honda partnered with Woking & Sam Beare Hospices for the annual Dragon Boat Race on 25 June, which is expected to raise a final total of more than £18,000, including pledged sponsorship from the rowing teams.

The event, which is held at Goldsworth Park Lake, is sponsored by Trident Honda and in memory of Kris Cook, who grew up close to the lake where he pursued his love of water sports and was a keen supporter of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.

The race saw teams of 12-20 people taking the plunge to race across the lake in special boats, competing against the clock and each other to win a place in the final race of the day. 12 teams took to the waters, with spectators gathered lake side in the sunshine to watch the teams compete. Activities and hospitality were also on offer with a bouncy castle, BBQ, tombola, face painting and games stalls to entertain and raise funds for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.

Phil Wormley, the director of fundraising for the Woking & Sam Beare Hospices, comments:

On behalf of all of us at the hospice I extend a huge thank you to our event sponsor, Trident Honda, to their team the Trident Otters and to all the teams who took part in the Dragon Boat Race. We deliver specialist palliative care to over 1,400 patients with life-limiting and terminal illnesses each year across six Surrey boroughs and we would not be able to do it without the generosity of our supporters.

Richard Roberts, managing director at Trident Honda, commented:

We are always delighted to sponsor the Dragon Boat Race and provide support to such a worthy cause. Thanks to our team the Trident Otters for taking part, we may not have won but with just 17 seconds between the first and the last teams it was a hard fought battle! There was a fantastic turnout from the local community on the day and the weather couldn't have been better for it. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Woking & Sam Beare Hospices and helping to raise much needed funds.

After an exciting day of heats, it was the Amstelveense Stadtdraken team who won first place, from Woking's twin town in the Netherlands. Close second came Seymour Estate Agents, followed by the Reg Varney Rowing Club.

Please see a full video of the day below:

And another video of the final race:

The Dragon Boat Race dates back 2000 years throughout southern China and is now taken place annually for 20 centuries. It is a water sport that has attracted the international scene with its religious ceremonies and folk customers. Before every race, a ritual is performed as a good luck charm for all the teams.

The Midnight Walk was a sea of flashing bunny ears

Thursday, 25 May 2017 at 11.07AM

Sponsored by Trident Honda and supported by Woking Leisure Centre, Woking and Sam Beare Hospices delivered their 10th annual Midnight Walk with over 700 ladies of all generations. Each donning their capes and very eye catching flashing bunny ears.

Total monies raised is still to be confirmed but the event was extremely well attended and the atmosphere from start to finish was fantastic. Woking Leisure Centre was our new venue for registration, followed by a warm up lead by fitness experts from Nuffield Health and Freedom Leisure, before the ladies set off on the eight mile walk. The sea of flashing lights could be seen through Woking Centre and up to the new hospice in Goldsworth Park Centre, around the lake, and back to Woking Leisure Centre via Horsell. At the finish line the ladies were greeted and presented with medals by event sponsor Richard Roberts, Managing Director of Trident Honda, and newly confirmed permanent CEO of the hospice Jayne Cooper.

Woking & Sam Beare Hospice Dragon Boat Race 2016

Monday, 4 July 2016 at 12.00AM

A team of 15 from Trident Honda entered a boat in this year's Woking & Sam Beare Hospice's Dragon Boat Race on Sunday 3rd July. Trident sponsors the event, as part of our Gold Sponsors' Package, so we felt it only right that we put in a team to compete at the event!

Trident Otters perform brilliantly! -- Managing Director, Richard Roberts.

None of the team had ever done Dragon Boat racing before, so we entered into it not knowing quite what to expect! Well, cutting to the chase, we didn't win, but were very proud of putting in a respectable first time performance - only 9 seconds behind the winning team, who happened to be a rowing club! To be fair that put us in 8th place overall, out of the 12 teams entered, which just shows how competitive and close the day's action was. All of the team have already said they are up for improving their performance next year, so we will be back to see if we can knock some of that 9 second gap off next year!

The hoardings protecting the new Woking & Sam Beare Hospice build programme in Goldsworth Park are up, and we're very proud to see our support acknowledged in this way.

Director of Fundraising, Louise Morris said:

We are excited to embark on this new phase of partnering with Trident Honda, who has now supported the Hospices for twenty years. The support of local businesses like Trident Honda is invaluable. It's only with these kind of partnerships that we can continue to give our exceptional care to patients and their families across Surrey, in people's homes as well as in our Hospice buildings.

Trident Honda's new partnership with the charity comes at a crucial time, as we have embarked upon our New Build Appeal to raise £3.4m to build new, modern homes for our hospice care, whilst still delivering care 24/7 to our patients free of charge, at a cost of over £8 million each year. A commitment like Trident Honda's enables the charity to plan ahead for the future and offer the very best care for years to come.

Dragon Boat Fun Day Launch

Thursday, 7 April 2016 at 12.00AM

Woking & Sam Beare Hospices have officially launched their Dragon Boat Fun Day, sponsored by Trident Honda, taking place on Sunday 3rd July 2016 at Goldsworth Park Lake. As always, teams will be paddling against each other and the clock to raise vital funds for the Hospices. New for this year alongside the Dragon Boat racing, there's even more going on with fun and entertainment for all the family.

Having recently launched a new three year partnership with the Hospices and as the headline sponsor for 2016, Trident Honda have entered a group of 14 staff who will be competing in the event this summer.

Richard Roberts, Managing Director at Trident Honda said:

Trident are delighted to continue to support the Hospices, when we asked the team if they would like to take part they jumped at the chance! On the day we will have at least 14 on board, there is a threat that I might have to be in the boat, and knowing the team we will be doing everything we can to be closer to the front of the fleet than the back!
