Available in Europe from early 2023, the Civic Type R is already setting new benchmarks, recently breaking the front-wheel drive lap record at Suzuka Circuit in Japan. Team Dynamics Motorsport and Ralph Hosier Engineering unveiled two very different versions of the Honda Civic Type R at the 2019 SMMT Test Day. Held at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire, the annual event sees over 300 journalists test drive a range of manufacturer cars.
Honda UK returns to the Isle of Man TT as both the official motorcycle and car partner to the world-famous motorcycle road race. After setting a lap record at the Magny-Cours GP circuit just last month, the high-performance hatchback has set a new lap record front-wheel drive production lap record of 2mins 53.72secs at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The Type R was piloted by former FIA WEC LMP2 class World Champion, Bertrand Baguette, who is currently racing a Honda NSX-GT in the Super GT series with Nakajima Racing.
Following the debut of the Honda Civic 'Type R Challenge 2018' car at the Geneva Motor Show, the high-performance hatchback has set a new 2mins 1.51secs lap record for a front-wheel drive production car at the Magny-Cours GP circuit in France. The Type R was piloted by WTCR driver Esteban Guerrieri, who is contesting the 2018 FIA World Touring Car Cup in a Honda Civic TCR with Münnich Motorsport.

The Honda Civic Type R has triumphed in the coveted BBC TopGear magazine Car of the Year awards, taking a hat-trick of honours. Picking up the hot hatch of the year, international editors' car of the year and then going on to claim the overall prize, car of the year.

A new interactive online film from Honda was launched today, bringing to life the brand's 'other side' ahead of the hotly-anticipated launch of the new Civic Type R in 2015.
Honda is renowned for its reputation of engineering excellence, technology and reliability. But it's the brand's 'other side', born from a racing heritage and thirst for innovation, which this campaign heroes.
Honda has revealed that the hotly anticipated new Civic Type-R will be powered by a direct injection turbocharged 2-litre engine and will deliver at least 280 PS. The car has already been put through its paces by Honda's WTCC driver Gabriele Tarquini and a film demonstrating its storming performance and handling on the Nurburgring can be viewed at:

Honda Civic Type Rs are to be exported from the UK to Japan from next year. The three-door will be called the Type-R Euro to distinguish it from the four-door Type-R Civics on sale in Japan and will be sold in limited numbers.
The cars are built at Honda's plant in Swindon.
