Trident are again one of the lead sponsors in this year's Woking Bikeathon taking place on May 10th, starting at Woking Leisure Centre, and raising money for local charities.

This year the Woking Bikeathon will again have a long route of 28 miles, a short route of 13 miles, along with a Kids' Bikeathon run off road exclusively within Woking Park, for those aspiring future Bikeathoners.

Richard Roberts, pictured on the left, said:

Trident are once again delighted to be a part of the Woking Bikeathon, having been involved now for around 25 years. The event is now organised by Woking Rotary with whom we have a superb relationship.

Trident is also the main sponsor of the Woking Swimathon, also run at the Pool in the Park in October each year.

At the weekend over a thousand riders took part in the return of the Woking Bikeathon and the events return can only be described as a huge success!

The event was made possible by the sponsors, Trident Honda of Ottershaw & Weybridge, Bourne Valley Garden Centre, Barlow Robbins Solicitors and Freedom Leisure, working in conjunction with Woking Borough Council. Help was also provided by The Woking Advertiser, who came in as the event's media partner and were a great support throughout the build up to the event, as well as attending the event itself.

The Rotary Club of Woking will be masterminding the event, with Terry Smith, the clubs events chairman saying:

It is coming back locally and will be supporting local charities. We are bringing the money back into the local community.

Cyclists who took part in the 23rd annual Woking Bikeathon on Sunday 15th May may have seen a few familiar faces from Trident Garages.

Richard Roberts, Managing Director, was one of the volunteers who marshalled on the course whilst Brian Cruickshank, Sales Support, and Martin Beagley, Vehicle Technician, were two of the cyclists taking part in the charity bike ride raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Together, Brian and Martin have raised over £350 for the cause and successfully completed the course in under 2 hours!

Other familiar faces at the event included Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, Mayor of Woking, and Sue Holderness, most famously known for playing Marlene in Only Fools and Horses, who started the cyclists off on their 13.5 mile or 28 mile bike rides around Woking and its surrounding areas.

The event was enjoyed by over 1,000 cyclists who joined forces to raise money and awareness for a very worthy cause. Congratulations to all those who took part!
