Michael Roberts 1931-2017

Tuesday, 4 April 2017 at 2.19pm

Michael Roberts - 30 January 1931 to 4 April 2017

It is with great sadness that we have to tell you that Michael Roberts, our Founder, Chairman, Friend and Father passed away peacefully at 10am this morning at the Woking Hospice, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Michael established Trident in 1963 and managed the business for some 33 years until his retirement in 1996. The business was incredibly important to him and he instilled within it a strong culture of customer care which persists to this day. Michael continued to take a keen interest in the business right through to his final days.

Michael will be remembered as a strong leader, a caring employer, a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather.

The family are incredibly grateful to the Woking Hospice. We can only imagine how much harder this loss would have been without their care and support of Michael.

Honda Jazz at the Awards Ceremony

Honda has triumphed at the inaugural Workshop Magazine awards, picking up Car of the Year with the Jazz and the coveted Manufacturer of the Year.

Readers voting for the Jazz praised the car's logical design which makes it simple to repair. It was also noted that parts are readily available from Honda. Similarly, the manufacturer of the year was voted for by readers and Honda was commended for its efficiency and strong relationships with workshops.

Aimed at garage owners, managers and automotive technicians, Workshop magazine held its first awards last night at the Brewery in London celebrating and recognising the best and brightest in the industry.

Trident Dealer Principal and Commercial Director, Steve Henderson, says:

Whilst Honda's reliability is well known, what perhaps is less well known is what the motor industry itself thinks of Honda. These awards demonstrate that even within the motor trade Honda's reliability and commitment to its product is legendary.

We would like to offer our congratulations to Honda for yet another well deserved award.

Only a few cakes left

We are today, Friday 20th October, holding a Mufti for Michael day in remembrance of our founder Michael Roberts and to raise money for the Woking Hospice, who cared for Michael so well towards the end of his life.

Thank you to all our team for supporting the event, and especially to Alex Russell, who kindly volunteered to bake cakes for a cake sale. Sadly there are very few left now (see photo opposite)!

In all we believe that we will have collected around £350 for this wonderful cause today.

Thank you to all our customers today for tolerating our questionable sartorial choices and especially to those who decided to contribute to the appeal.

The Diesel Debate - Which Fuel is Right for Me?

Thursday, 27 July 2017 at 1.40pm

Choosing your next Honda

There has been much debate about diesel cars and their emissions, both CO2, NOx and particulates. In order to make a decision on your next car, you need to understand these emission types and how they relate to the sort of driving you do:

  • CO2 - contributes to global warning and is a threat to the planet
  • NOx and particulates - affect local air quality and are an urban challenge

Diesel cars produce less CO2 than Petrol, which is beneficial for our fight against global warming, but petrol cars produce less NOx and particulates, which is beneficial for tackling local air quality. Therefore we believe that every driver should purchase the car that works best for their journey, profile and lifestyle:

  • Think Diesel - if you drive long distances on the motorway or are generally a high mileage driver
  • Think Petrol - if you live in a city and mainly do short journeys inside the city or are generally a low mileage driver
